Just came across this trailer on YouTube and thought I'd share it here. Honestly, it doesn't seem like a movie I would personally go and see (despite the fact that rugby men are in my opinion, the hottest men out there), but I thought others here might be interested, especially as there are often complaints that modern day gay stories don't really focus on gay male masculinity so much. This may be the movie for some people!
If you do see it, please report back. As I said, I'm not really interested in watching it, but am interested in hearing opinions.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this, OP. I'll add it to my 'To Watch' list.

I saw this in my recommendations last week as well, seems like it's a step above your usual low-budge gay flick.

I wanna see it. I love seeing two men kissing.

Rugby players turn my crank so fucking hard.

I'll see it because it stars Alexander Lincoln, who may be gay. And is awfully cute.

When I lived in Sydney, on a Sunday all the gays would go to The Beresford in Surry Hills for drinks. The local gay rugby team would often turn up, in full rugby kit.
They knew what the fuck they were doing. 😉

The biggest problem with most gay movies is that the entire plot of the story is that the people are gay.
It's rare for a movie to be a great movie that just happens to have gay leads - Fatal Attraction with two men or Gone Girl with women.
I mean, can't you see some dizzy queen going after a married closeted dude with whom he hooked up, and Gone Girl really is just another Tuesday for lesbians.

Nobody's Watching was good about having a gay character who was more than just gay.

r8 That's acceptable in less tolerant countries where it's the heteros who make sexual orientation into an issue. Many gay movies are made in those countries and we shouldn't be dismissive of that approach.
In Western Europe, North America, Australia... yes, I agree that we're probably past that stage. However, that still doesn't mean we can't have gay movies that focus on gay communities like a gay rugby team.

Will Colby Jansen be on the team? He is into guys.

I don't have a problem with gay movies that focus on gay communities.
What I have a problem with is when being gay is the sum total of the plot. I mean, we can pretend there is some other plot, but what the core conflict boils down to is being gay. You could have gay Big Chill. You could have gay Diner. You could even have a gay Ocean's 11.

I'm definitely ready to start seeing more great plots in movies where the characters just happen to be gay. That would be awesome. There is definitely room for all, of course, but how great would it be to see stuff like that?

The trailer is full of over-hype.
These people are merely kicking a ball around; they aren't super masculine heroes.

Supposedly opened Sept. 16, but I've seen nothing about it. Anyone go?

Tch. I get more homoeroticism, drama, camp and plot twists following English Premier League weekly.

I finally got around to watching it over Christmas, I also backed it on Kickstarter.
It's a bit underwhelming. While it was refreshing to have a gay film that is not about coming out it still feels a bit lacklustre. The two guys having an affair behind their partners' backs was a bit of a weak plot point. I didn't see what was such a big deal, both were in less than ideal relationships and could have been happy with each other. Or with some sort of polyamorous set up. The relationship 'rules' seemed a bit old fashioned and it also was not clear just why these two fell for each other so hard and so quickly. Maybe I'm just too old and cynical and I've forgotten what it's like to fall in love. It also seemed unbelievable that the lead character, Mark, gets dumped from his open relationship for breaking said rules, without any sort of discussion. He just cries and then accepts it and moves out the next morning.
I also found it a terrible cliché that Warren, the guy from the 'A' team was the one who gets to top Mark from the 'B' team. That seemed very old fashioned too. Warren acts like an alpha male so he gets to be the top. It would have been more interesting to have him strutting around on the pitch, but giving up his macho facade in the bedroom. Both seemed to be characterised on their preferred sex position.
It's also way too long at over 2 hours, even if there is some nice eye candy to look at (if you like burly rugby players).

A major achievement in queer film.

Is it sci fi? I can't see how you can get it in from the side.

Should be titled " In Through the Backdoor."
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 26, 2023 1:38 PM |
I watched it online to decide if I wanted to buy it. Decided against buying it unless I can get a cheap copy like with Bros.

There seems to be so many soccer queer movies and this one looks good.

I liked it while I was watching it, but now it's hard to remember details. Forgettable, really, though it was a step above most crap straight-to-DVD gay films. And they are legion.
The best thing about the movie was Alexander Lincoln. Where has he been all my life?
Having said all that, I still think it's worth a look. It surpasses all the low-budget gay garbage out there, and it's a sincere attempt to up the game.

I'll wait for the porn remake.

Is the title a rugby term? I don’t understand it.

R11, Colby was not on the team, but we did hire him as a consultant. He was also our casting director.

I watched it last night. The affair itself wasn't really enough to pin the whole drama on but it was a good film and beautifully shot. I'm a bit of a nerd for how films are lit and coloured and really loved the tones in this. I drifted off a few times though and ended up trying to figure out some of the locations. Was the flat in Elephant and Castle? Maybe Vauxhall?

I lost interest in the climactic rugby game.

"Is it sci fi? I can't see how you can get it in from the side."
No, dear. You might want to check out the pornography available on the internet.
There seems to be a lot of gymnastic positions about, especially if the performers have some kind of fitness based side hustle.
Although, I'm sure they would consider the sex work as the side hustle.
Bless their hearts.

I've seen it - it's ok, not great but better than a lot of gay movies. It's a bit too long - could have easily lost 20 minutes and not lost anything necessary. Hot guys (the two leads) but there's not a super-compelling storyline. The heavier-set guy I thought was the best actor in it - though didn't have a very big role.
It's on Netflix in the UK now, assume in the US as well - worth checking out.

I liked it. It was great to see two handsome male leads for a change. It was sexy, smart and kept me interested.

Hard to believe that was a british movie, both lead actors are hot af.
Usually, british movies are full of inbred looking people.

Yes, british movies are full of inbred looking people and Paul Mescal.

I forgot it was about a gay footy team until we saw some queeny types.
