Javed Jaffrey is the son of veteran comedian, Jagdeep Jaffrey.

Jaffrey made a huge impact on his debut, with the film Meri Jung (1975); his portrayal of a negative character was widely appreciated.

As an anchor, his TV shows named Videocon Flashback and Timex Timepass that aired on Channel V became instant hits in the early 90’s.

Jaffrey is not only a judge but also the co-founder of India’s first dance reality show- Boogie Woogie.

The song “Mumbhai,” from the film Bombay Boys was conceived, written and choreographed by Jaffrey. It remained at the #1 spot on the charts for 6 weeks.

Jaffrey’s first wife, Zeba Bakhtiar, a Pakistani actress, was briefly married to singer Adnan Sami in 1993. Notably, this was Zeba’s third marriage.

Jaffrey also gave his voice for a number of cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Don Karnage. His commentary for Pogo’s Takeshi’s Castle, a Japanese TV show, became very popular among both kids and adults.

He joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in March 2014 and contested in the Indian general elections from the Lucknow constituency. He finished 5th in the constituency securing only 41,429 votes.
